Office fun and love 5

A, in all seriousness, leaned on the edge of my cubicle, frowned, and spoke with dismay,

“Sam, I… I jatuh…”

Me: Oops! What’s wrong?

A: I jatuh cinta…

If I were a town planner/ the local council…

I will name the roads and towns in a way that could give people a sense of…

And auspiciousness as well as positivity!

Colleague: xx is very unprofessional by texting “f*ck you”…

Me: Be positive! Maybe he meant “duck you”, stupid auto-correct! :p

Sometimes, speed isn’t essence…

“Because one believes in oneself, one doesn’t try to convince others. Because one is content with oneself, one doesn’t need others’ approval. Because one accepts oneself, the whole world accepts him or her.”

How can you make the office a more fun place to work in?

1)      Offer massage to your colleagues!

When I need to refresh my attention span, I always go to C’s and F’s place quietly and then shake their chairs left and right vigorously! Manual massage chair! Haha! :p

2)      Decorate your workplace!

I make sure the wombat kisses the cat every day!

I know this kissing scene is inferior compared to my favorite scene below, but it is still a pleasant sight! 🙂

I super like this!!!!

Hokkien is the official language for my company; pizza is the staple diet!

Knowing that I am suffering tonsillitis, W prepared honey lemon juice for me!

My floor underwent renovation. Post-renovation, we have to take off our shoes to enter the department. Now you have to choose your socks carefully! Reminder: color mismatch and holes are eye-catching! :p

Stark contrast: spick and span vs. errr… no comment… That means I’m overloaded, ok? Haha!

Someone who always knows…

In Grey’s Anatomy, Season 5, Episode 23:-

Izzie has another brain tumor and has to make a life-and-death decision whether or not to undergo a risky surgery.

Izzie: If Derek cuts the tumor out, I could lose my memory, and if he doesn’t, I could die. I don’t know what to do. Alex, tell me what to do.

Alex: Iz, I can’t tell you what to do.

Izzie: Of course you can. You’re my husband. That’s what husbands do. They stomp around telling their wives what to do. It’s your job.

Alex: No, my job is to support whatever you want to do.

Izzie: I don’t know what I want to do. That’s why I’m asking you.

Izzie then attempts to put it to vote in favour of the surgery, talks to a close cancer patient, Meredith tries to offer advice as a friend while the rest as doctors.

Long story short, but none of these seem to help Izzie makes up her mind. Not until George comes to her.

George: You paged me. Are you okay?

Izzie: No. I don’t know what to do. I don’t know if I should have the surgery. I think I’m gonna die either way. You gotta tell me what to do.

George: You know what to do.

Izzie: No, I don’t. I don’t.

George: Yes, you do. You’re just scared to do it. This back and forth is just fear. But you’ve already made the decision. You already made it. You made it the second you decided to fight this thing. Just look…where you started. Look where you are now. I mean, now you’re this… Incredible surgeon… And teacher. You’re a doer, remember? You know exactly what you have to do.

This kind of plot is quite common in movies/series/books: XX has to make an important decision but has no clue what to choose. Then XX always meets YY who seems to understand XX’s strengths, body and soul and makes XX realizes XX’s heart’s desire by pointing out something with absolute certainty, no MAYBE, no PERHAPS. XX would be like struck by lightning, receives great enlightenment and proceeds to make the one decision that when XX draws a conclusion, you would have (good kind of) goose bumps because the decision sounds so right and unassailable on all fronts and also in XX‘s best interest!!!

goerge and izzie

Giving advice with certainty!

I want my George in real life! Save me all my struggles! Haha!

Inside the glass bottle…

“I want to walk tall, believe in myself, have the courage to ask for what I want and need, and live a life that mattered. I want to wake up in the morning with a smile on my face and know that I am loved and that I belonged. I am desperate to feel worthy and I am hungry for the opportunity to live my fullest potential.” - modified from "The Dark Side of the Light Chasers" - Debbie Ford

Under the apple tree…

"If you are not spending all of your waking life in discontent, worry, anxiety, depression, despair, or consumed by other negative states; if you are able to enjoy simple things like listening to the sound of the rain or the wind; if you can see the beauty of clouds moving across the sky or be alone at times without feeling lonely or needing the mental stimulus of entertainment; if you find yourself treating a complete stranger with heartfelt kindness without wanting anything from him or her... it means that a space has opened up, no matter how briefly, in the otherwise incessant stream of thinking that is the human mind." - A New Earth, by Eckhart Tolle

Inspiring quotes!

If someone prays for patience, you think God gives them patience? Or does he give them the opportunity to be patient? If he prayed for courage, does God give him courage, or does he give him opportunities to be courageous? If someone prayed for the family to be closer, do you think God zaps them with warm fuzzy feelings, or does he give them opportunities to love each other? (God in "Evan Almighthy")
“To love another person is to see the face of God.” ― Victor Hugo, Les Misérables
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” -Mark Twain
Aggie: "But what about the people who hurt you? Don't you ever want to make them suffer?" Norman Babcock: "Well, yeah, but what good would that do? You think just because there's bad people that there's no good ones either? I thought the same thing for a while. But there's always someone out there for you. Somewhere." - Paranorman
“You're only here for a short visit. Don't hurry, don't worry. And be sure to smell the flowers along the way.” by Walter Hagen
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, body thoroughly used up, body totally worn out and screaming "WOOOHOOOO what a ride!" - by anonymous
When you travel, it’s not like you take a part of each place away with you; rather, it’s as if you leave a part of yourself there, like a part of you forever belongs to that place – the time, the people, and the things you saw; and over time, it gets burned deeper into your soul - by anonymous
